Who do people choose medical travel?

More and more prosthetic users choose to travel abroad for the best prosthetic solutions. Often, they seek the highest quality, access to the latest technology, or specialized treatments not available in their own country. Practical reasons also play a role: shorter waiting times, attractive cost-to-quality ratios, and the assurance of a complete care package with personal attention. For many international visitors, our advanced prosthetics clinic Belgium is not only a place to receive a top prosthesis, but also a safe and welcoming environment where recovery and comfort go hand in hand.

Why parents choose medical travel for pediatric prostheses

Parents want the best for their child, which sometimes means traveling to a center specializing in pediatric prostheses. At ACC, your child benefits from the latest technologies and custom-made solutions that support comfort, mobility, and growth. Thanks to our international expertise and complete care packages – from fitting to guidance – the entire process is fast, safe, and stress-free. Your child immediately benefits from a prosthesis that truly fits.

Pediatric prosthesis specialists

Amputee Care Center specializes in pediatric orthopedics and prosthetics. Our orthotic and prosthetic solutions for children are lightweight, dynamic, and designed to grow with your child. From digitally measured “pat hands” for the youngest users to advanced bionic arms like the Hero Arm, we support children throughout their development.

Parents are always closely involved in pediatric prostheses. We also always consider that sports and play are crucial for a child’s development. Our goal is to give children maximum freedom and ensure they can be fully children.

Trusted partner for humanitarian organizations

The Amputee Care Center works closely with NGOs and international organizations worldwide to make high-quality, ISO 13485-certified amputation care and prosthetic technology accessible to everyone in need. These partnerships allow us to combine expertise, optimize logistics, and deliver faster results for amputees regardless of their background or situation.

Patients and organizations from all corners of the world (Europe, Africa, conflict zones such as Ukraine, Congo, Syria, Afghanistan, as well as Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America) rely on the Amputee Care Center for prosthetic care Belgium or onsite services.

The Amputee Care Center participates in tenders from governments, NGOs, and international organizations to be officially selected for projects and assignments. Participation allows us to expand our impact and provide high-quality care on a larger scale to those who need it most.

Second opinion for prosthetic optimization

Not everyone is satisfied with their current prosthesis. At the Amputee Care Center, you can request a free second opinion, even if you do not live in Belgium.

We discuss your needs and analyze your situation technically and functionally. Our prosthetists provide honest advice on what could be more comfortable or better. This service is brand-independent and free. Sometimes we suggest small improvements, sometimes it’s already fine as is. Either way, you can make an informed choice. Our advice is completely optional – you decide.

Innovation in prosthetic care

At UpLab by Spronken, we combine technology, biomechanical expertise, and training under one roof. This goes beyond classic gait analysis. For arm prostheses Europe, we measure muscle activity (EMG), and for leg prostheses Europe, we perform detailed gait analysis to optimize balance, posture, and steps.

The goal is a custom prosthesis that is comfortable and performs optimally. Thanks to high-tech procedures, AI-driven analysis, and in-house 3D printing, adjustments can be made very precisely for both adults and children.

For international patients, this ensures world-class care regardless of where you come from. We even create prostheses for international participants at the Paralympic Games in Paris (2024) and Los Angeles (2028).

Multidisciplinary collaboration

At the Amputee Care Center, collaboration is essential. We work closely with hospitals, doctors, and rehabilitation centers across Europe. From day one, we are involved in advice, guidance, and planning your rehabilitation.

Our prosthetics center Europe includes prosthetists, orthotists, physiotherapists, and psychologists. International patients can receive help with communication and administration with insurers and medical teams in their home country. This allows you to focus entirely on recovery and mobility while we manage administrative tasks and technical expertise for your optimal prosthesis.

Experiences of prosthetic users

Every prosthesis and story is unique. At ACC, we are proud that some prosthetic users openly share their experiences. With custom prosthetic solutions Europe and personalized guidance, patients learn to walk, exercise, work, and live fully again.

Appointments, quotes and payment

For individual international patients – from first contact to new prosthesis. Our international clients, outside Belgium and the Netherlands, pay directly for their prosthesis because reimbursement rules vary per country and insurer. Paying directly ensures smooth planning and timely prosthetic solutions. Prosthetic users may later submit costs for reimbursement to their insurer according to their local rules.

  • You start with a personal intake via video call, discussing your medical situation, previous treatments, and specific needs. Together, we determine the most suitable prosthesis, technologies, and care pathway and provide a preliminary quote.
  • To guarantee your appointment and any visa application, a €500 deposit is requested. A detailed treatment plan is then prepared, and the prosthetic team is reserved for a fast and efficient fitting.
  • 50% of the total cost must be paid at least seven days before the appointment. Only upon receipt can the appointment be confirmed.
  • The remaining 50% is due upon delivery/fitting of the prosthesis. Payment can be made by bank transfer or card onsite. Cash payments in Belgium are limited to €3,000.

Your doctor or healthcare provider may consult us about your treatment. Together, we ensure the best care decisions regardless of your location.

Process:

  1. Intake consultation
Start with a personal intake via video call, where we discuss your medical situation, previous treatments, and specific needs. Together, we determine the most suitable prosthesis, technologies, and care plan, and prepare a preliminary quote.
  2. Deposit and planning
To guarantee your appointment and any visa application, a deposit is required. Afterward, a detailed treatment plan is prepared, and the prosthetic team is reserved for a fast and efficient fitting on scheduled days.
  3. Full payment and prosthesis
On the day your prosthesis is fitted, full payment is requested before the procedure begins. Any prior deposit is deducted.
How often should I have my prosthesis checked?

At Amputee Care Center, we recommend an annual check-up, including maintenance and minor adjustments. This prevents long-term complications, improves comfort, and ensures your prosthesis functions optimally. Annual check-ups are also available and often free for international patients, guaranteeing reliable prosthetic care Europe.

How does remote prosthetic maintenance work?

ACC supports remote prosthesis maintenance through virtual consultations and guided instructions for adjustments or minor repairs. This ensures your prosthesis functions optimally even if you live far away.

Can ACC also support children with complex needs?

Yes. ACC specializes in pediatric orthopedics and prosthetics. We work with a multidisciplinary team focused on pediatric prostheses, rehabilitation, psychological support, and school and sport integration. Our pediatric prostheses are designed for maximum freedom and grow with your child.

Do you make pediatric prostheses for war victims?

Yes. Creating pediatric prostheses for war victims is special because each child is unique, and prostheses must accommodate their growth, activities, and personal needs. Additionally, it requires extra care and empathy to support both physical mobility and emotional wellbeing, helping these children regain confidence and overcome trauma.
