Welcome To Amputee Care Center

If you have had an amputation or have an arm prosthesis or leg prosthesis due to congenital defect, a good prosthesis can significantly improve your quality of life. The cost of an arm or leg prosthesis at Amputee Care Center in Belgium can vary greatly, depending on the type of prosthesis, the level of amputation, and the technology used. Amputee Care Center is an approved provider for health insurance companies in the Netherlands and Belgium. This means you can already get a basic prosthesis without a co-payment.
At Amputee Care Center, we make fully customised prostheses. We have been making prostheses for 60 years and offer the full range. We make prostheses for the less mobile amputee, for babies and children, for the active prosthetic wearer to the paralympic athlete. The Amputee Care Center is an independent prosthetic centre and not tied to any particular brands for prosthetic parts. This offers the great advantage that we can make the most optimal prosthesis for everyone's budget. The arm prosthesis and leg prosthesis cost depends on your specific needs and situation. We are happy to invite you for a no-obligation introductory consultation or a free second opinion. Together, we will explore the possibilities and will be happy to provide you with a no-obligation quote.

Basic prostheses are often largely or fully reimbursed by health insurance or mutual insurance. This applies to leg prostheses as well as arm, hand and finger prostheses. However, high-tech prostheses, such as myo-electric arm prostheses or MCK (microprocessor-controlled) knees in thigh prostheses, may require a financial outlay. Depending on your health insurance and personal needs, the price of the prosthesis is different.
We at the Amputee Care Centre (ACC for short) can imagine that you are concerned about prosthesis costs. Since every prosthesis is unique, we will first create a personalised price quote for you. We review all options with you and take into account your budget. We are known for our innovative, latest-generation prostheses. Prosthetic innovation has made huge strides in recent years, but new-generation prosthetic parts have not become more expensive. 3D printing has taken prosthetics to a new level. Therefore, the cost of a new prosthesis may not be too bad. At the Amputee Care Centre, we would be happy to tell you more about the possibilities, the latest prosthetic developments and prosthetic costs.
One of the questions we hear most often is ‘What does a leg prosthesis cost?’. However, this price depends on many factors. A lower leg prosthesis with a simple foot or a mechanical upper leg or hip prosthesis is usually fully covered or reimbursed by your mutual or health insurance scheme.
If you want a more advanced leg prosthesis, the cost can quickly reach €20,000 or more. Here, you may also have to pay part of it yourself as a co-payment from your mutual health insurance fund. An advanced upper leg prosthesis is always more expensive than a lower leg prosthesis, because a prosthetic knee needs to be added. This is perhaps the most expensive part of an upper leg prosthesis. Of course, we will help you obtain reimbursement or reimbursement for your MCK electronically controlled knee.
To make the right choice, you can always test the different knees extensively.
There is a lot of difference in the price of an arm prosthesis. A simple mechanical arm prosthesis usually costs the prosthesis wearer nothing at all. This is because a basic arm prosthesis, a mechanical/cosmetic arm or hand prosthesis in Belgium and the Netherlands is fully reimbursed by the mutual or health insurance scheme. The Amputee Care Center specialises in the full range of arm, hand and finger prostheses. You can come to us for a basic version as well as the most advanced bionic arm.
A myo-electric arm prosthesis works by converting muscle impulses into basic movements such as grasping and opening. A bionic arm prosthesis goes further and uses nerve signals to make much more complex, fine movements, such as moving fingers individually. Bionic prostheses therefore offer more advanced functionality and control than myoelectric versions.
A myo-electric prosthesis, the one that works based on electrical signals from muscles, is a lot more expensive than a mechanical or cosmetic arm and hand prosthesis and can cost as much as €10,000 to €20,000 or more. Mutual or health insurance in Belgium and the Netherlands often reimburses some of these costs, but you have to take into account your own financial contribution. The same applies to bionic prosthesis, which are often even more expensive and can reach more than €50,000.
The Hero Arm is one of the most popular choices by children with arm prostheses, but active adults are also opting for this beautiful prosthetic solution these days. This advanced 3D printed prosthesis is specially designed for children aged 8 years and above with forearm amputations. The arm is lightweight and offers multiple grip options, allowing the child to perform daily tasks independently. With more than 50 interchangeable covers, from the likes of Star Wars, Spider Man, and other Marvel characters, the Hero Arm can be fully personalised, making wearing it truly fun. Thanks to myoelectric sensors, it detects arm muscle movements and offers intuitive control of the prosthesis. The Hero Arm is an option that increases both functionality and self-confidence in children.
In Belgium and the Netherlands, basic prostheses are usually covered or reimbursed. However, coverage may vary based on your activity and the type of prosthesis you need.In most cases, health insurance will fully reimburse the basic prosthesis and all the costs of your prosthesis will be reimbursed. You then have to little to no additional costs yourself!
However, if you opt for a prosthesis with additional functionalities, there are often additional costs that you have to pay yourself. We would like to invite you to our prosthesis centre to discuss carefully what you need and what exactly will or will not be reimbursed. We will give you full transparency about the possible costs and co-payments with a customised, no-obligation quote. Be sure to visit our prosthetics centre to discuss all options, including a free second opinion.
At the Amputee Care Center, we are ready to help you apply for reimbursements and refunds from your Dutch health insurance or Belgian mutual insurance company. We are an official partner of insurances in both Belgium and the Netherlands for this purpose. We also make sure you have the right documentation for your insurance company. Our goal is to make the whole process as smooth as possible for you. So you can focus on enjoying life and your new prosthesis.
A leg prosthesis needs annual maintenance. This ensures that it continues to function properly and also remains comfortable. At the Amputee Care Center in Genk, Belgium, every prosthesis wearer therefore receives a free gait analysis to check whether the prosthetic socket, prosthetic knee and prosthetic foot are still functioning optimally. The annual maintenance of your prosthetic leg is free and part of our service.
You can come to us for a free annual check-up and a free gait analysis, even if your prosthesis was not made by us.
The annual check-up of your arm prosthesis is important to ensure that it continues to fit well and function optimally, so that any discomfort or wear and tear is noticed in time. This prevents problems with the fit or function of the components in your prosthetic arm. Regular check-ups and fine-tuning of your prosthetic arm and hand also help prevent complications such as overloading your shoulder or your other arm.
We check the fit, adjust the components and make any minor repairs. Your prosthetic arm will thus remain in optimal condition and remain comfortable so you can keep moving without a second thought. So you don't have to worry about the cost of this maintenance. Annual maintenance is free. Even if your arm prosthesis was not made by us.
We advise you to have your prosthesis checked at least once a year. But be sure to ring the bell earlier if your fit is uncomfortable or if you suffer from skin irritations, for example. With regular maintenance, we can address these small problems early so they do not develop into major inconveniences or defects. Do come by if you have a problem, if you are in doubt or if you just want to change your mind. In doing so, also know that we offer total care. So just come and visit us! We will make the coffee ready for you!
Buying a prosthesis is a big decision with a lot of impact on your quality of life. In our experience, it is certainly not nothing financially and emotionally either. At Amputee Care Centre (by Spronken: Prosthetics | Spronken Orthopaedics) we therefore make the process as easy as possible for you. We guide a lot of prosthesis wearers right from birth and immediately after amputation. However, most clients had their first prosthesis made elsewhere and came to us only after a second opinion consultation
The relationship between prosthetist and prosthetist is often lifelong. We have known many of our clients for more than 50 years and understand that a relationship extends beyond the prosthetic part. We provide holistic care and enjoy building a bond of friendship with our client prosthetists. We see each other at least once a year for denture maintenance.
Do you have questions about our service, costs, insurance or maintenance, for example? We are always at your service. Feel free to drop by for a cup of coffee and an informal introductory meeting.
Our prosthetists will provide you with a custom-made prosthesis that fits you perfectly. Thanks to free annual maintenance, you also don't have to worry about unexpected problems. Would you like to know more about the possibilities or do you need a second opinion? Then make a no-obligation appointment at our prosthetic centre.
At ACC, our goal is to improve your quality of life thanks to the right prosthesis. Together, we will make sure you go through life again with confidence and without limitations.
